Martin K. Frey Funeral Saturday
Martin K. Frey, 89, died June 2, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, after several
months' illness Memorial services, conducted by Rev. Donald L. Forbes and Rev. Emmett Braselton, were held Saturday, June 6 at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Frey farmed in Humboldt County for 33 years before retiring and moving to Eagle Grove. During his lifetime, he participated in many agricultural and community activities. He served on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Cooperative Company of Eagle Grove from 1921 to 1951 and was president of this board for 26 years. He was County Chairman of the first government program for agriculture in Humboldt County and was County Chairman of the Warehouse Board in charge of the first corn sealing program. He served as director and president of the Iowa Cooperative Grain Company from 1935 - 1939 and during this interim was elected to the Board of Directors of the Farmers National Grain Corporation. Mr. Frey was a director on the Eagle Grove Junior Fair Board for 25 years serving as its secretary for ll of these years. He was instrumental in organizing the Boone Valley Soy Bean Processing Plant in 1943 and was a member of its board of directors until 1950.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Bower Lodge No. 464, a Rotarian for 43 years, Past Worthy Patron of Eagle Chapter, No. 114 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Mr. Frey, son of Henry B. and Elizabeth Frey, was born on August 5, 1880 in Sterling, Ill. After graduating from the Sterling High School and Business College, he came to Eagle Grove as an employee in the office of the Chicago Northwestern Railway Company. In 1903 he was married to Mina Fothergill of this city.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his three daughters, Mrs. Benjamin F. Kilgore of Des Moines, Mrs. Loren T. Jones, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Willis W. Kramer, Munster, Ind.; three grandchildren, Benjamin F. Kilgore, Burnsville, Minn.; Captain Douglas F. Kilgore, Beale Air Force Base, Calif, and Mrs. John B. Rust, Overland Park, Kansas; and three great grandsons; one brother, Noah J. Frey, Madison, Wisc.
