Sudden Death of John Frederick
Stricken with Paralysis, Never Regained Consciousness

John Frederick died at his home in this city on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 1914, at 4:00 o'clock. A few days before, Mr. Frederick fell from his chair, in his yard, stricken with paralysis, from which he never regained consciousness, Up to that time he had been in his usual good health, had been working in his garden and about the premises every day and had never complained. He was 82 years of age and had practically never been sick during his entire life.

Rev. L. M. Pierce held brief funeral services at 1:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at the home, and the remains were taken to Belmond where funeral services were held and interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery at that place.

John Frederick came from Germany to Illinois when he was nineteen years of age. He married and settled near Elgin, where he reared his family, five children by this union. His wife died and he came to Wright county, Iowa, settling upon a farm in Norway township, where he conducted a blacksmith shop in connection with his farm, later moving to Belmond where he followed his trade of blacksmithing. Some twenty-five years ago he traded his farm for Eagle Grove property and retired to this place. Four children were born to this second union, Fred and Walter of this city, Susie Wendel of Clarion, Bessie Black of Webster City.

Mr. Frederick was a thrifty and industrious citizen, a kind husband and father and an accommodating neighbor.
