Eagle Grove Business Man and Supervisor Elect Victim of Blood Poisoning and Complications.
W. W. Frakes, 60, well known Wright county business man, died at his home in this city last week Saturday morning. For 35 years Mr. Frakes was engaged in the hardware and implement business. He started his business career at Woolstock and remained there 15 years when he moved to Eagle Grove, but continued his business at Woolstock, placing his son, Harold, in charge. He was at various times interested in implement and hardware stores in Kamrar and Williams as well as at Eagle Grove and Woolstock.
Last fall he was successful in his first attempt to win a public office, being elected supervisor from this district. He would have taken his office on Jan. 1, 1934, had he lived.
Obituary
William Wesley Frakes was born to A. J. Frakes and Mary Alice Calkins Frakes, September 4, 1872, in Hamilton county near Woolstock, and died at his home in Eagle Grove, Jan.14, 1933. Mr. Frakes was at the time of his death 60 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was married in January, 1899, to Martha Guinan at which time he became a member of the Roman Catholic church of which he was a faithful member.
Four children were born to this union, Harold of Woolstock, Mrs. Geo. Townsend of Chokio, Minn., John and Francis of this city. Mrs. Frakes died Feb. 18, 1912.
On October 30, 1913, Mr. Frakes was married to Miss Susan Nilles. One daughter, Loretta, was born to this union.
Mr. Frakes was in the hardware and implement business for fifteen years in Woolstock and moved to Eagle Grove, March 1, 1915, and has been in the same line of business since that time.
Mr. Frakes’ last illness was of long duration, and was caused from injuries he received in a fall some years ago.
Mr. Frakes was a member of the Knights of Columbus, joining the organization in 1912.
He is survived by his wife, and children mentioned above, three brothers and two sisters, Walter and Charles and Anna Frakes of Woolstock, Andrew Frakes of Menagha, Minn., and Mrs. Fannie Pierce of Chippewa Falls, Wis. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Doolittle preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o’clock at Sacred Heart church in charge of the Rev. Father Molloy. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery.
