Robert Newton Foster
20 February 1926 ---- 15 December 1994

ALGONA, IA — Funeral service for Robert N. Foster, 68, was conducted by the Rev. Edwin Harp at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the Assembly of God Church. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery at Irvington, the Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were David Foster, Allen Cole, Doug Asche, Wayne Householder, Merrill Hanson and Vernon Cole.

Robert N. Foster, the son of Samuel N. and Hilda Meyers Foster, was born Feb. 20, 1926 at Eagle Grove where he later attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947 and was aboard ship in the Pacific Theatre three miles from the atomic testing site prior to the bombing of Japan. March 23, 1947, Robert was married to Anna Sankey at Burt. They lived at Davenport three years, then moved to the Lotts Creek-Algona area. He was a machinist for Metronics 12 years and later worked at Kossuth Fabricators. He retired in 1980 due to
poor health.

Mr. Foster was a member of the Assembly of God Church, enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Anna and five daughters, Patricia Ann, Mrs. Vernon Cole, Algona; Grace Myhre, Britt; Debra Foster, Minneapolis; Ann, Mrs. Merrill Hanson, Algona and Roberta Foster, Humboldt. There are 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Almeida Williams, Eagle Grove and Viola Osborne, Des Moines. His parents and four brothers, Kenneth, Oscar, Leo and Clinton Foster, are deceased.
