Mrs. Anna Marie Degen, 72, died suddenly at her home on East Broadway Wednesday just at noon, Mrs. Degen was eating dinner when she was stricken. She had been in ailing health for several years, but her death was unexpected. Just a month ago today her son, Henry Degen died.
Funeral arrangements had not been made when the Eagle went to press.

April 5, 1934Funeral services were held Saturday morning from Sacred Heart church for Mrs. Anna M. Degen, who died suddenly Wednesday noon of last week. Mrs. Degen had not been in good health for several years, but her death was unexpected. She had recently returned from California where she spent the winter with her daughters. She is survived by seven children, Peter and Mrs. Henry Keppers of this city, John and Carl Degen of Burlington, Wis., Mrs. John Diederich of St. Joseph, Mich., Mrs. F. X. McDonald of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elizabeth Degen of San Francisco, Calif. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death some years ago, and her son, Henry died about a month ago.
Obituary
Mrs. Anna Mary [Marie] Degen, age 72 years, 1 month and 4 days, died Wednesday, April 4, 1934, due to cardiac condition. Born in Buislarf, Germany, March 1, 1862, she spent her early childhood days in Germany and at the age of 20 years came to this country and settled in Peru, Ill. She was married to John Degen on February 3, 1885 at Peru, Ill., where they lived on a farm until 1902 when the family moved to a farm 5½ miles east of Eagle Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1918, her daughter, Anna Ahlers who passed away in 1919 and a son Henry who passed away just one month ago. She leaves to mourn her seven children, Peter and Mrs. Henry Keppers of Eagle Grove, John and Carl of Burlington, Wis., Mrs. John Diederich of St. Joseph, Mich., Mrs. F. X. McDonald of Los Angeles, Calif., and Elizabeth of San Francisco, Calif. There are 36 grandchildren and also one brother living in Mazon, Ill.
Funeral services were held last Saturday at Sacred Heart church. Rev. Father Molloy celebrant of requiem high mass. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers were: Fred Klein, Wm. Wehrheim, Herman Schilmoeller, Gus West, Anton Moser and James Dundon.
Those attending the funeral from out-of-town were; Mr. and Mrs. John Degen, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Degen from Burlington, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Diederich from St. Joseph, Mich., Mrs. Betty Degen, Mr. and Mrs. John Ahlers and son Leo of Granville, Elizabeth Degen of San Francisco, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. John Schumacher of Mazon, Ill., Lorenz Schaefer, and Lenora Kroetchky of Peru, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klemmers of Blue Island, Ill., Mrs. Wm. Ahlers, Sr., and Herman Schilmoeller of Granville,
