Our wonderful Dean Stanley Shupe was born on July 7, 1937, in Clarion, Iowa. Dean passed to spirit surrounded by loving family members at his home in Florence, KY on May 21, 2019. Dean believed in the family of God, lived by the golden rule, and lit his candle by serving others. He showed his love and faith each day as a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, through works of generosity, compassion, and inclusion, such as at his beloved Union Presbyterian Church; as an engineer and professor at the University of Cincinnati; in his mission work and travels with family; and through many encounters with others as a life-long student of religion and life, and as a tireless advocate for the environment and social justice.

His life is celebrated by his wife Donna; his daughters Nancy Shupe Mathew and Ellen Shupe (Francisco Calderon); his step-daughters Amy Ford Scott (Kelli Osborn), Tracy (Mike) Mann, and Holly (Ryan) King; grandchildren Julia, Sara, David, Lucas, Evan, Monica, Sarah Grace, Huston, Emma and Roland; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends. He is preceded to spirit by wife Alma, parents Zella (Shirk) and Eldred Shupe, brother Larry, and step-mother Jessie.

A celebration of life will be held at Union Presbyterian Church (10259 US Hwy 42, Union, KY 41091) on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the church. Please join us to remember this man of integrity and distinction – a life well lived and loved. A memorial fund in Dean’s name is being established by his family. Details will be provided as they become available.
