Susan Lucinda Vaughan Frambes
28 September 1848 – 7 April 1924

As was stated in these columns last week Mrs. Wm. Frambes, mother of Mrs. Aaron McGrath, passed
away at the latter's home on Monday, the deceased having suffered a stroke of paralysis two days previous.

Susan Lucinda Vaughn was the second daughter of nine children of Wm. and Eliza Vaughn of Mason
county, Ill., in which locality she grew to womanhood. She was born September 28, 1848, and died April 7, 1924, aged 76 years, 6 months and 9 days. On January 29, 1869, Miss Vaughn was united in marriage to William Frambes and resided near Havanna, Ill., for six years. They next lived at Dalton City, Ill., until 1901 when they removed to this county and resided on a farm near Holmes. Here the family made their home until the death of Mr. Frambes on June 10, 1914.

To Mr. and Mrs. Frames were born eight children, four of whom survive: John of Erie, Kan., Mrs. Emma McGrath of Clarion, Mrs. Ida Barber of Moweaqua, Ill., and Charles of Knoxville, Ill. Louella died in infancy while Mary, Mattie and James passed on after attaining their majority. One sister also survives, Mrs. Alice Clemens of Havanna, Ill. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Frambes has made her home with her children.

In early life both Mr. and Mrs Frambes were members of the Methodist Episcopal church in Shelby county, Ill. In March, 1918, Mrs. Frambes united with the Clarion church and was a consistent christian woman. Deceased was also a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed the esteem and friendship of a large circle of acquaintances.

Funeral services were conducted at the McGrath home Thursday forenoon by the Rev. John B. Walker, her pastor. Interment was made in the Eagle Grove cemetery [Rose Hill] by the side of her husband.
