August 17, 1913 --- January 7, 1980

Benedict Joseph Driessen, 66, died Monday morning of an apparent heart attack. Services are being held tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.

Driessen, a former employee of Boone Valley and the Erickson Manufacturing Company, is survived by his wife, Ruth, and two step-children, Duane Rifen and Margaret Baker.

Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Benedict Joseph Driessen, 66, passed away suddenly on January 7, 1980 at his home in Eagle Grove.

Ben was born August 17, 1913 at Thorp, Wisc., the son of Fred and Mary Liska Driessen. He attended school in Thorp, Wisc. and graduated from there also. Following graduation, he entered the Air Force and served in World War II. After the war, Ben returned to Thorp and then moved to Eagle Grove in 1953. He first worked for Martin Nervig on his farm, then for Boone Valley Co-op, and later for Erickson Manufacturing. Mr. Driessen retired in 1976. He was united in marriage to Ruth Pletcher Rifen of Eagle Grove on November 17, 1955 in Eagle Grove. Ben was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, and also of the American Legion.

Mr. Driessen is survived by his wife, a step-son, Dwayne Rifen of Phoenix, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret) Baker of Grimes; three brothers, Philip of Chelan, Wash., Charles of Thorp, Wisc., Sylvester of Stanley, Wisc.; two sisters, Delia Brooks of Kaukauna, Wisc. and Mrs. Louie (Agnes) Kiraly of Stanley, Wisc. and six grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 10 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Marvin Berkeland officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
