October 26, 1882 --- September 11, 1956

E. J. Dahl, 73, 520 North Cadwell Ave. died early Tuesday morning at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Samuel Lutheran church in charge of Rev. B. F. Molstre. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Dahl a retired farmer is survived by his wife, one son Oscar Dahl of Huxley, two daughters Mrs. Roy [Ray] Pittman [Pitman] of Ames, Mrs. Russell Fisher of Buffalo Center and nine grandchldren. He is also survived by one brother Tom Dahl of Elmore, Minn. and two sisters residing in Norway.

Eric John Dahl, was born October 26, 1882 of Parents Lars and Carrie Vatendahl at Skaanevlk, near Bergen, Norway. He was baptized in Aakre Parish and later received the usual instructions in the Christian Faith and confirmed in the same parish. He passed away at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa September 11, 1956 at 7:00 A. M.

Mr. Dahl came to America in the summer of 1902 and lived near Roland, Iowa for several years. In 1919 he returned to Norway and the same year was united in Holy Matrimony to Gurle Ostebo. In 1921 they came to America and established their home near Elmore, Minnesota. They moved to Otteson, Iowa in 1930 and later moved to a farm west of Belmond, Iowa and in 1948 they moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Mr. Dahl was a member to St. Olaf Lutheran Church west of Belmond, Iowa where he experienced a spiritual awakening in 1946 and found peace with God by faith in Jesus Christ. Since that time he has lived in fellowship with His Lord and thus the family have the hope in thelr sorrow that He is with his Lord and Savior.

In 1949 he became ill and was confined to his home most of the time. Last December his condition became worse and since that time he was confined to his bed. He suffered a stroke a few weeks ago, from which he did not recover.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carrie. He is survived by his wife, one son, Oscar of Huxley, Iowa, two daughters. Clara (Mrs. Raymond Pitman) Ames, Iowa and Edith (Mrs. Russell Fisher) Buffalo Center, Iowa, and one step son William Larson, Platte Center, Nebraska, fourteen grand children, one brother, Tom living at Elmore, Minnesota, two sisters, Anne and Lena in Norway and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Dahl home at 1:30 P. M. Thursday, September 13, 1956 and from Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2:00 P. M. Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Mrs. Carl Sunner and Miss Ann Falk sang at the funeral service. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery.
