Mrs. Isabel Elene Erickson, nee Olson, daughter of Johanes B. and Kari Olson, was born Feb. 2, 1862 at Hadeland, Norway. She was baptizes in infancy at Hadeland Lutheran Church. In 1867 the Oldson family came to America after enduring the ocean voyage which lasted 11 weeks and settled in Clay County Iowa and in 1871 they moved to Humboldt County which was sparsely settled at that time. After receiving instruction in the Christian faith she was confirmed at the age of 15 in Humboldt County. She passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 10:25 p.m. at the home of her daughter and son in law Mr. and Mrs. Edd Thompson, 219 North Lincoln, Eagle Grove.

Dec. 20, 1883, she was united in marriage to Bernard [Bernhard] Erickson of Humboldt County, near Thor. In the spring of 1893 they moved to a farm north east of Holmes where they lived until they retired in 1914 and then moved to Eagle Grove where she lived the rest of her life.

The last 22 years she lived with her daughter and son in law Mr. and Mrs. Edd Thompson where she received faithful and loving care to the end.

In the spring of 1918, while the well known Lutheran Evangelists Breidablik and Scrovold were conducting a series of meetings at Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, she experienced a spiritual awakening and was graciously saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Even though she experienced some very hard trials, the Savior who has so graciously saved her was also able to sustain and keep her to the end.

Mrs Erickson was a member of the Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active and faithful as long as she was able. She loved the Word of God and the Christian fellowship and it was only after she became too weak that she reluctantly discontinued to worship and fellowship in the congregation.

She was loved and respected by those who knew her. She was a faithful witness for her Savior in word and deed.

During the last years of her life she was totally blind and almost deaf, but she endured these hardships with humility and patience. The last four months she was bedfast.

Mrs. Erickson was preceeded in death by her husband who died in 1926, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by two sons: Clarence of Spencer and Irvin of Clarion, three daughters: Alma (Mrs. Bert Larson) of Kanawha; Ellen (Mrs. James Johnson) and Nora (Mrs. Edd Thompson) both of Eagle Grove, ten grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Samuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Monday, Oct. 27, 1958 at 2 p.m. Preceeding this service a brief prayer service was held for the family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edd Thompson. Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Casket bearers were: Burdette, Arthur and Andrew Thompson, Tolfred and Gaylord Larson and Harvey Benson. Interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
