May 2, 1889 --- May 22, 1909

Robert Eveland Winnie [Winne] was born in Hardin county, May 2, 1889, and died at the home of his mother May 22, 1909. The cause of his death was tuberculosis brought on about six months ago by a hard cold that he had contracted at that time.

Among the out-of-town relatives in attendance at the funeral were his sisters Mrs. T. Eiserman and daughter of Clarion, Mrs. Wm. Cary of Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Henry Warnike and husband of Iowa Falls and Wm. Winne of Rockford, Ia., a brother and his father Daniel Winne of Freeport, Ill., Wm. Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Wilhour and family of Dows.

At a such a time of bereavement words of pen fail to convey to the sorrowing ones the sympathy felt by the community. We grieve that a life so young and full of promise must end, and it does not seem fair or just for that life not to had a chance to show what good it may have accomplished toward humanity in this unsmiling and oft times sad world.

Rob was a bright ambitious boy and was loved by all. He will be missed by the entire community.
He kept up his brave spirit to the last and died as peacefully as he had lived. Farewell, Rob, you have gone the path we must all take sooner or later, and your going has made heaven nearer and dearer to many a sad and lonely heart.

Card of Thanks
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to neighbors, friends and the W. O. W. for the many kind acts done for us during the sickness and death of our beloved son and brother Robert.
