F. WRESSELL DIED MONDAY, MARCH 7TH

Body of Pensioned C. & N. W. Engineer Will Be Brought to Eagle Grove for Burial.

Fisher Wressell, 72, died at his home in Seattle, Washington, on Monday, March 7. Mrs. Wressell and son, Chauncey, were expected to leave Seattle this Thursday for Eagle Grove with the body. They were expected to arrive Sunday morning. No funeral arrangements have been made at this writing but it was thought the funeral would be held Sunday or Monday. John McDonald, Jr., received one telegram from the Wressells telling of their partially completed plans for the burial.

Mr. Wressell was born Oct. 10 [6], 1859. He was pensioned in 1929. He entered the service of the Northwestern, August 5, 1885, and was promoted to engineer August 15, 1888. Additional details will appear in our next issue.

Former Resident Buried Here Monday

The funeral services for the late Fisher Wressell, announcement of whose death was in last week’s Eagle Grove Eagle, were held Monday afternoon, March 14, at the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home. Christian Science services were held, and the Masonic funeral service was also conducted at the home and the grave. Mr. Wressell is survived by his wife, two sons, Edmund F. of Hammond, Ind., and Chauncey M. of Seattle, Wash., two brothers and one sister all of whom make their home abroad.

Fisher Wressell was born on October 6, 1859 at Adlingfleet, England on the River Don. He came to the United States at the age of 21 and shortly thereafter entered the service of the C. St. P. M. & O. railroad at Blue Earth, Minn. In 1885 he came to Eagle Grove, Iowa, and entered the service of the C. & N. W. railroad as a locomotive fireman. In the winter of 1888 he was promoted to engineer in which capacity he continued until he was pensioned on Oct. 31, 1929.

On New Years Eve, 1887, he was united in marriage to Emma Aline [Adell] Wilber [Wilbur] of this union two sons were born, Edmund F. of Hammond, Ind., and Channcey [Chauncey] M. of Seattle, Wash.

During the past two years he and his wife resided in Seattle in which city his untimely death occurred on March 7, 1932, after an illness of 10 days, from an attack of influenza, aggravated by chronic asthma.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Emma Aline [Adell], and the two sons; two brothers, George M. of Brisbane, Australia and John W. of Barton-on-Humber, Lincolnshire, England; one sister, Lillie Chatterton of Doncaster, England; and three granddaughters, Helen Jean, Dorothy Ardelle and Patricia Jane of Seattle, Wash.

Christian Science services were held at the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home Monday, March 14, and funeral conduct was under the auspices of Bower Lodge No. 464. A. F. & A. M., with friends, relatives and members of the Masonic, Eastern Star, Woodmen of the World and B. of L. E. fraternities in attendance. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Wressell had planned to return to Eagle Grove month to spend the summer or perhaps to remain permanently.

Mr. Wressell was a great lover of his home and will be greatly missed by his devoted family.

Out of town attendants at the funeral were: Mrs. Anna L. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lee, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Leota Bruns and daughter, Carol Jean, of Cedar Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Smith of Jefferson, Iowa.
