Hilda Buraas rites today

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) for Miss Hilda Buraas, 96. Rev. W. E. Carlson will have charge of the services in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and interment at Norway Lake Cemetery, Thor.

Miss Buraas died at her farm home west of Eagle Grove Monday.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Hilda Bergitha Buraas was born October 14, 1874 in Humboldt County near Eagle Grove to Nels and Bertha Anderson Buraas. She was baptized at birth by Rev. Holm and on October 27, 1889 she was confirmed by Pastor Holm at the Norway-Lake Country Church in Humboldt County. She died at her farm home where she was born and spent her entire life. She had reached the age of 96 years, 9 months, and 4 days.

In her youth she worked as a milliner and a seamstress. She was a charter member of the choir of Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid Society. Hilda's life centered around her family and church. She served and loved both faithfully.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, all who were younger than she. Ole and Ben died in 1967, Herman in 1970, Carl in 1938, and Hans in infancy.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Mr. and Mrs. Everett Burres who have cared for her in her later years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Carlson in charge. Interment was at Norway-Lake Cemetery.
