Orion Alger Evans was born at Williams on November 29, 1895 and was the son of Edward and Josephine Fryslie Evans. He grew to manhood in the area of his birth. During World War I, he served in the Army Air
Force.

He and Myrtle Crane were united in marriage at Dows on March 7, 1928. They farmed in the Dows and Williams area until moving to Eagle Grove in 1939. Alger worked for Farmers Co-op Elevator and the, Boone Valley Cooperative Processing Association, Eagle Grove, before retiring in December of 1979. He entered the Clarion Health Care Center in August of 1982.

He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, and a life member of the Eagle Grove American Legion.

Orion Alger Evans died at the Clarion Health Care Center Thursday night, April 29, 1993 at the age of 97.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1979; five brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by four children: Darrell Evans, Clarion; Ellen Barns, Albany, Ga.; Darlene Watts, Clarion; and Lois Paterson of; Richmond, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kermit of Grinnell and Donald of Williams.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Lyle E. Peters officiated. Military honors were conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery by the Eagle Grove American Legion and V.F.W.

Kaster-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of the arrangements.
