17 October 1887 ---- 5 January 1966

Funeral services for John Clay Dinnie, 78, retired Eagle Grove railroad man were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Emmett Braselton officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military rites were held at the graveside for Mr. Dinnie, a World War I veteran, and there were also Masonic rites at the funeral home Friday night.

Mr. Dinnie was found dead at his home on Wednesday morning. Born and reared in Eagle Grove, Mr. Dinnie was engine house foreman for the Chicago and North Western Railroad for many years until his retirement in 1952.

He was a member of the American Legion and active in various Masonic groups, including Eagle Grove Masonic Lodge, White Shrine Consistory and El Kahir Shrine, Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Jacqueline Joan Dinnie of New York City, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Thurman Elex and Miss Agnes Dinnie, both of Belle Plaine.
