Catherine A. DeWinter, 78, of Humboldt, Iowa, died November 6, 2002, at the Humboldt Care Center South.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Steve Zeimet of Stewartville, Minn., and Christine and Jeff Kleiss of Humboldt; daughter-in-law, Linn DeWinter of Humboldt; son-in-law, Dale Miller, of Gowrie, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Burk of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Grace Thompson and Marjorie Vorland, both of Hardy, and Arlene Spangler of Eagle Grove; brothers, Verner Egemo of Mora, Minn., Lawrence Egemo of Eagle Grove, William Egemo of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Arnold Egemo of Waterloo, Iowa, and Harlan Egemo of Webster City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lurman; daughter, Patricia Ann Miller; son, Donald Lee DeWinter; great-grandson; Tye Miller, and brother, Howard Egemo.

Catherine Adeline Egemo, the daughter of Weir and Celia (Ness) Egemo was born December 4, 1923 and baptized on February 17, 1924, at Cylinder. She received her confirmation at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, and attended Eagle Grove School. Following her education, she was employed by families in the Eagle Grove area. She was united in marriage to Lurman P. DeWinter on December 24, 1940, at Mason City, Iowa. In 1949, the couple made their home on a farm south of Eagle Grove. In 1954, they moved to a farm west of Thor, where they lived until moving to Humboldt in 1986. Mr. DeWinter died in February of 2001, and she continued to maintain her home. She became, a resident of the Humboldt Care Center South in September of this year. Mrs. DeWinter was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Humboldt, where she served as a former Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the neighborhood birthday club. She very much enjoyed her family and baking, gardening, quilting, and crocheting.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 9, at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt with Dr. Jennifer Edinger and the Reverend Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial was held in Our Saviour's Cemetery, Corinth Township.

Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of arrangements.
