The funeral services over the remains of Harland I. Garrison, were held yesterday afternoon from the chapel of Johnson and Son, on Sherman west. The Woman's Relief Corps, and the Rebekah lodge sent floral tributes. A squad of the machine gun company attended and acted as pall bearers. Rev. M. Lee Sorey of the First Christian church, preached the sermon.

Harland L. Garrison was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Decoration Day, 1894. At the age of 11, his parents moved to Kansas and on January 1, 1913, he came to Hutchinson and enlisted in the United States army. He was sent to Fort Logan, Colorado, and after three months, to Fort Columbia, Washington. There he was assigned the Thirty-third company of artillery and later transferred to the Ninetieth company. He sailed to the Philippines on August 8, 1915, and was stationed at Fort Mills. Later he was transferred to the Eighth company and sent to one of the small islands to install some large guns. On October 17th, while engaged in the erection of these guns, an accident happened, and he was killed. He was 22 years, 4 months and 17 days old at the time of his death. The body was shipped to this country for burial and arrived in Hutchinson Saturday morning.
