Emma Larsen was born February 17, 1868, to Johannes Larsen and his wife, Anna, at Kronhergsben, Sweden, and died at her home 503 S. Cadwell Ave., Eagle Grove, Iowa, December 21, 1948, age 80 years, 10 months and 4 days. She was baptized into Christ in infancy, and came with her parents to America, to Illinois. Her mother died when Anna was two years old, and she was taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Thorson, near Lisbon, Ill. She attended the public schools, was taught the way of salvation in Jesus Christ, and confessed her Christian faith in the West Lisbon Lutheran church, under the pastorate of the late pastor, P. A. Rasmussen.

On June 20, 1891 she was united in marriage to Mr. Knut J. Engh. Mr. and Mrs. Engh lived on their farm home in Kendall county, Illinois, until In January 1904, when they moved to the farm home they had purchased in Wright County, Iowa. And in March 1920 they retired to the present Engh home in Eagle Grove. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Engh. One little girl, twin sister to Olin, died in infancy, seven remain. Mr. Engh died at his home January 18, 1943. She is now survived by four sons, William and John, both of Kanawha, Emery of Goldfield and Olin of Eagle Grove. And by three daughters, Mrs. Ann Gaston of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Emma Olson of Inglewood, California, and Mrs. Ruth Rojohn of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Also by 14 grandchildren and by 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Engh was a fine Christian character, industrious and frugal in her way of living a dutiful wife and mother. Suffering from the loss of healing for many years she bore her affliction patiently and pleasantly. She was a helpful neighbor. She loved her Saviour and appreciated much the ministry of the word. She suffered physically for several months, but bore her condition patiently.
