June 20, 1917 --- July 18, 1972

George Marvel Elwood, 55, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon while at his work as a mechanic at Hansen Implement Co. on East Broadway.

Funeral services will be this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Samuel Lutheran Church in charge of Rev. Marvin Dooley. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Elwood is survived by his wife, two sons: Melvin D. and Randy L. and one daughter, Mrs. Douglas Mosher of Algona, one brother, Dallas Elwood of Corwith and two sisters: Mrs. Marian Morgan of Thompson and Mrs. Percy Elkin of Clarion.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Elwood and was born in Thompson June 20, 1917. He was a veteran of World War II, and on January 23, 1946 was married to Phyllis Butz of Eagle Grove.
