Emmer Olai Eittreim was born January 18, 1879 in Hamilton county, Iowa, to Barney and Evalina Eittreim. He died Tuesday, September 27, 1955 at University hospital, Iowa City, after a long illness.

As a child he was baptised at Ellsworth. He was confirmed in his Christian faith by Rev. C. S. Eastvoid at Eagle Grove, where he lived most of his life.

November 4, 1907 he married Anna Wood She died in June 1919. Their daughter Elizabeth died in infancy.

In May 1929 he married Sarah Bernice Horstman of Britt. To this union were born five children: Calvin of Perry, Maxine, Mrs. Wm. Bailey of Eagle Grove; Maynard of Eagle Grove; Edna of Eagle Grove, and Verna, Mrs. Jackie D. Craine of Cedar Falls. These five children, his wife and two grandchildren survive him, as do two sisters, Julia, Mrs. Sam Nelson of Goldfield and Mrs. Emma Johnson of Eagle Grove. A sister Emma and a brother Arne died in Infancy.

Forty of his forty-three years of service as a railroader were with the Chicago & Northwestern Ry. Co.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 30 at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth R. Torvik pastor. Interment followed at Rose Hill cemetery.
