Artie E. Shiley, 83, of 237 Sunnyside Ct. died at 10:45 a. m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a month's illness. He was taken to the Beck Memorial Home, where services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday. The Rev. Robert Fitts will officiate. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening. Mr. Shiley was born in Dows, Iowa, March 16, 1873, the son of Henry and Martha Ditmore Shiley. He married Nora Helgarson in Mitchell, S.D. in 1902. She died in May, 1942. Surviving are three sons, Ivan, Oskalooska, Iowa; Clinton, May wood, Calif., and Arlyss, 1210 W. Olive St.: three daughters, Melba Shiley, and Mrs. Jean Williams, both of Livermore, Calif., and Lorraine Shiley, San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, S. T. Shiley, Graettinger, Iowa, and six grandchildren. Mr. Shiley was a member the United Methodist Church.
