June 3, 1900 --- December 1, 1990

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Lauretta Beatrice Norstad Svingen, 90, died Dec. 1, 1990, in a local hospital. She was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on June 3, 1900, to Henry and Rachel Norstad. On May 5, 1918, she and Peder O. Svingen were married in Savage, Mont. Peder preceded her in death in 1970. Lauretta was a homemaker and had lived in this community for seven years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Brethren Church in Eugene.

Survivors include five children, Orville Svingen and Marie Hicks, both of Glendive, Mont., Russell Svingen of Eugene, Manda Murray of Springfield and Virginia Dean of Livermore, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters. Ruth Cusick of Kelso, Wash., Doris Hickam of Portland and Marie Hall of San Bernardino, Calif.; and a brother, Johnny Neely of Eugene. Lauretta was preceded in death by her son, Robert Svingen in 1975; her daughter, Pauline Bowden in 1982; her brother, William Neely in 1987; and two sisters, Ethel Berge in 1976 and Alice Moore in 1972.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in First Lutheran Church in Savage, Mont., with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
