Mrs. Bert Warland Funeral Monday
Mrs. Bert Warland, 78, died Friday, Oct. 1 in the General Hospital, Des Moines where she had been a patient for a few days. She was a long time resident of Eagle Grove and two years ago she moved to Des Moines to make her home with her daughter Mrs. Norman Bowie.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Badger Lutheran Church with burial in the Blossom Hill Cemetery there. Mrs. Warland is survived by three sons, Albert of Eagle Grove, Orville, Baltimore, Md.; Duane, Joppa, Md.; three daughters, Mrs. George Niles, Dodge Center, Minn.; Mrs. Earl Thompson, Dakota City; and Mrs. Norman Bowie, Mitchellville. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, three brothers.

Annie Thompson was born on March 28, 1893, at Badger, Iowa, the daughter of Nels and Martha Petersen Thompson. She received her education in the Badger school. She was united in marriage to Bert Warland of Badger on April 11, 1912, at Badger. The couple farmed until moving to Eagle Grove in 1938.

Mr. Warland passed away in 1955. Mrs. Warland continued to reside in Eagle Grove until 2 years ago, going to Des Moines to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Norman Bowie. She had been in ill health for some time, and on Tuesday, September 28, entered Des Moines General Hospital. She passed away there on Friday, Oct. 1, at the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

She is survived by three sons Albert, Eagle Grove; Orville, Baltimore, Md.; Dunne, Joppu, Md.; three daughters, Phyllis, Mrs. George Niles, Dodge Center, Minn.: Dorothy, Mrs. Karl Thompson, Dakota City; Eldora, Mrs. Norman Bowie, Mitchellville; three brothers, Melvin Thompson, Staples, Minn.; Ernest Thompson, New York Mills, Minn.; Jesse Thompson, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Nany Voss, Ogema, Minn.;, Mrs. Wilbur De Groat, Ogema, Minn.; Mrs. Walter Wander, Waubun, Minn.; and Mrs. Rudolph Larson, Fort Dodge; also 35 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters, Mary and Jennie.

Mrs. Warland was a member of the Badger Lutheran Church, Badger. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 4, at the Badger Lutheran Church, at 2 p.m. The Revs. Obert Hoven and W. C. Nassen officiated, and burial was in the Blossom Hill Cemetery near Badger.
