A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father David Beckman officiating. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Edward Eugene DeLano was born September 1, 1921 in Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Rose Katherine Adams DeLano. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove where he graduated from high school. Ed enlisted in the United States Army in 1940 and served in the Philippines during World War II. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he farmed west of Eagle Grove and continued to serve in the Iowa National Guard for over 20 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW in Eagle Grove, and the American Legion in Osage.

He is survived by his sisters, Alice H. Malmin, of Osage; and Irene F. Benton, of Thompson Falls, Montana; seven nieces and nephews: Allen Malmin, of Orchard; Karl Malmin, of Castro Valley, Calif.; Kevin Malmin, of Osage; Rose Mustain of Osage; Tom Benton of Thompson Falls, Montana; Ed Bertton of Thompson Falls, Montana; and Kathy Mayes, of Worland, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece Cheryl Tourtelotte, a nephew Tom Malmin, and two great-nieces Krystal Mustain and Jessie Malmin.

The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
