Passes Away Tuesday
Fails to Recover from Gasoline Stove Explosion Burns on July 24th

Mrs. George Elwood died at her home on North Garfield Ave. Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Elwood received severe burns on July 24th when a stove exploded in her home, from which she did not recover. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Marion Morgan of Goldfield, Lois Elwood, Stoy, Marvel and Dallas of Eagle Grove, also by two grandchildren, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at one o'clock at the Wilson Funeral Chapel in charge of the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery at Leland, Ia.

Obituary
Clara Margaret Jordan, daughter of Ben and Malinda Jordan, was born Oct. 10, 1882, near Corydon, Ind., where she lived with her parents while she grew to young womanhood. On Dec. 23, 1908, she married Geo. Elwood at Corydon. They moved to a farm near Oaktown, Ind. where they lived for 5 years, later moving to Thompson, Ia. In the spring of 1923 they moved to Livermore, and in 1925 came to a farm near Eagle Grove. They have lived in this vicinity for over 12 years.

Mrs. Elwood suffered a severe burn on July 24 from which she never recovered and from resultant complications passed away Oct. 10, 1939. There remain to mourn her loss, her husband, 3 sons, Stoy, Marvel, and Dallas Elwood of Eagle Grove, and 2 daughters, Mrs. Marian Morgan of Renwick and Lois Elwood of Eagle Grove, and 2 grandchildren, Darrell and Roselyn Morgan. One daughter, Zelpha, passed away Aug. 25, 1929. She also leaves 5 sisters, Mrs. Helen Ging and Mrs. Ruth Wolfe of Corydon, Ind., Mrs. Catherine Wolfe, New Middleton, Ind., Mrs. Josephine Housefield of Campbellsburg, Ind., and one brother, Ben Jordan, of Detroit, Mich.

Mrs. Elwood joined the United Brethren church when a young girl in Indiana, in which fellowship she remained for the remainder of her life, although she attended and worked in other churches where she has lived. The Interment will be in Forest Home cemetery at Leland, Ia.
