Mrs. Helen Farrell Paine, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Young Farrell, was born on September 11, 1896, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She died on Monday, July 7, 1980, at her apartment home in the Wahkonsa Manor in Fort Dodge, Iowa, after a sudden illness. She attained the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 26 days.

She grew up and graduated from the Eagle Grove schools and attended Drake University in Des Moines. She taught school for several years at Renwick, Laurens and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Sept. 5, 1946, she was united in marriage with Paul D. Paine at Reno, Nevada. The couple lived in Minneapolis, Minn., until 1955, when they moved to Palm Springs, Calif. Mr. Paine died on August 16, 1967. Helen moved to Fort Dodge in 1971. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the National Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Phyllis, Mrs. Donald Andrews of Burnsville, Minn.; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Kathryn; one step-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen F. Paine were held on Thursday, July 10,1980, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Kenneth R. Reiter of the United Church of Christ of Eagle Grove officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
