DIED AT PEKIN Died Oct. 29th [Nov. 2nd] and Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Monday.

Thomas Farrel], former engineer on the Northern Iowa division, died at Pekin, Illinois, October 29. He was well known here where he began his railroad career, transferring to Pekin in 1913. Many friends of the Farrell family here extend their sympathy to the surviving relatives. Mr. Farrell was a genial, pleasant and kindly man to meet and an efficient and loyal employee of the Northwestern railroad.

Obituary
Thomas Farrell was born in New Hartford, Iowa, October 29, 1865 and died of cirrhosis of the liver on November 2, 1923, at Pekin, Ill., after an illness of a few weeks. He was reared on a farm near Alden, Iowa. He was married on October 14, 1889, to Elizabeth Ann Young, at Eldora, Iowa. In 1891, he came to Eagle Grove and was employed as a fireman for the Chicago & Northwestern railroad. In 1897 he was promoted to engineer and was engaged in this service on this division until November, 1913, when he transferred to the Southern Illinois division, making his home at Sterling and later at Pekin.

Six children were born to this union. Robert, who died in infancy, Margaret Kathleen, who died March 22, 1905, Elizabeth Madeline, who died October 30, 1918, Leon Edward died April 12, 1921. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters Mrs. Edward W. Colquist of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Walter B. Porter, of Eagle Grove. C. L. Farrell, a brother, of Kansas City, Mrs. Laurence Wingert of Iowa Falls, and Mrs. Frank Stober, of Blackwell, Okla., sisters, also survive.

Funeral services were at Eagle Grove at Sacred Heart church at nine o'clock Monday, November 5. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
