Mrs. Walster, 72, Died

Mrs. Ester [Esther] Walster, 72, Randall, died this morning at about 4 a.m. at Young’s Rest Home, 615 Grand Ave. She had been at the home since November 1959. Mrs. Walster had been in ill health for some time.

She was owner and operator of the Randall Telephone Exchange until selling it in July 1959.

Surviving are four brothers, Milo Yearous, Codagon [Cadogan], Canada; Howard Yearous, Springville, Ill.; Glenn Yearous, Orlando, Fla. and Roscoe Yearous, Oregon.

Funeral services will be announced by Larson Funeral Home, Story City.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Esther Walster, a former Marble Rock resident, at Story City Monday afternoon.

Rites Held for Former Resident

Mrs. Esther Walster, daughter of Aaron and Elizabeth Yearous, was born August 25, 1888 at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was a member of the Baptist Church, but attended the Elim Lutheran Church in Randall when it was not possible to attend her own.

Mrs. Walster graduated from the Eagle Grove High School in 1905. Later she taught school in northern Iowa including several years in and near Marble Rock. She married Ralph Walster of Marble Rock in 1910. He preceded her in death. From 1916 to 1929 Mrs. Walster was Postmistress in Marble Rock.

About 18 years ago she bought the Randall Telephone Exchange, which she operated until July 1959. In September of 1959 she entered the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames and later the Young's Nursing Home, where she passed away on April 1st, 1960. Mrs. Walster leaves to mourn her passing four brothers, Milo Yearous, Codogon [Cadogan], Canada; Howard Yearous, of Western Springs, Illinois; Glenn Yearous, Orlando, Florida and Roscoe Yearous, Grove, Oregon; one uncle, Andrew Yearous, Elgin, Iowa and twelve, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, April 4, in the Lutheran Church in Story City with burial at Eagle Grove.
