John Frakes Rites Tuesday In Sacred Heart Church
Funeral services for John Frakes, 51, were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock In Sacred Heart church, with Rev Maurice Mullan officiating. Interment was in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Frakes died Saturday night about 9 o'clock in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge, where he was a patient one day. He had been in failing health since last July when he had pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, three children, James, 20, John, 12 and Arneda, 9 years old. Other survivors are his brother Harold of Goldfield, one sister Mrs. Mary Townsend of New Ulm, Minn., his stepmother Mrs. Susan Frakes of California, one step-sister Mrs. D. E. Prapley of Falls Church, Va.

Mr. Frakes was born in Woolstock and his parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Frakes. As a small boy his father and family moved to Eagle Grove where he had since resided. He attended Sacred Heart school graduating in 1925. He was married to Ruth Penfield of Clarion in 1934 and for many years operated a sand and gravel business.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Francis. Out of town relatives and friends here for the funeral services were Mrs. Mary Townsend and Mary Townsend of New Ulm, Minn,; James Townsend, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kelly, Rhoades; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Frakes and family, Goldfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rasmussen and family, Swea City; Mr. and Mrs. John Penfield, Guthrie Center, Richard Penfield, Atlantic; Mr. and Mrs. Lute Penfield. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Borel, Mr. and Mrs. Larry DeBower, Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nellis, Duncombe, Joe Loesch, Watkins, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fetrow, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Katherine McDonald, Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Frakes; Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Weedman, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Frakes, Webster City; and Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson, Fort Dodge.
