ISAAC YOCUM IS NO MORE
Summoned by Grim Reaper Last Sunday-Had Been Ailing Several Years.

The third of the pioneers of this community to answer the final summons and pass from a life of usefulness to his eternal reward was Isaac Yocum, who finished life's course last Sunday.

Isaac Yocum was born July 25, 1837, in Columbia county, Penn., and died Feb. 16, 1914, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. O. Mechem, Clarion, Iowa, aged 76 years, 6 months and 20 days. At the age of 23 he left Pennsylvania and came to Lee county, Ill., where he was married to Sarah Priest. In 1871 they came to Butler county, Iowa, living there four years, then came to Wright county, where they have since resided. Mr. Yocum was the father of five children: Mrs. A. B. McOllough, Mrs. E. L. Mechem, Fred L., deceased, Edgar W. and Mrs. A. O. Mechem.

In June, 1862, he answered the call of his country and enlisted in Co. E. 75th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, serving his country till close of war. Thus has one more of the heroes who helped persevere our beloved land answered the call of "taps" for the last time and gone to join the majority of his comrades where war is not known. Mr. Yocum was a man of the highest character and much loved not only by his immediate family but by a host of friends.

The long procession that followed the remains to their last resting place was undisputed testimony of the love and esteem his acquaintances had for him. He had been in failing health for about three years, during which time be suffered three strokes of paralysis. This with a complication of other diseases caused his death. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. O. Mechem, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. C. Littleton, after which interment was made in Clarion Evergreen cemetery.

We join the large circle of friends of the bereaved relatives in extending heartfelt sympathy in the loss of one whose place can never be filled by another, yet one who lived to a ripe old age and was prepared to answer the call.
