HAZEL I. GUGISBURG

Hazel I. Rasmussen was born November 26, 1906 in Lake Township, Wright County, Iowa, to Peter and Minnie Thompson Rasmussen. She received her early education at Goldfield. She attended summer school at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and taught four years in the Renwick area.

On July 27, 1929, she married Fred Gugisburg at Benson, Minn. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm in Lake Township until March of 1965 when they moved into Renwick. She lived her entire life in the Renwick area.

She was a member of the Eagle Chapter No. 114 Order of Eastern Star in Eagle Grove; United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle at Renwick; and Know Your Neighbor Club.

Hazel I. Gugisburg died Thursday, March 22, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was 83 years old at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lyle, Ivan and Harold Rasmussen; one sister, Mabel Hanson and a son-in-law, Dick Weed.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Darlene and her husband, Marvin Pearson; and Marjory Ann Weed, both of Renwick; two grandchildren, Douglas and his wife, Sue Pearson, Midland, Mich.; and Lisa and her husband, Todd Stevenson, Iowa City; and one sister, Fern Wig of South Care Center in Humboldt.

Eastern Star Service was held Sunday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home in Renwick.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Renwick, with the Rev. Peter Siemens officiating.

Interment was in Vernon Township Cemetery, rural Hardy.
