RUDOLPH B. VEVLE

Rudolph B. Vevle was born on October 22, 1912, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Oliver R. and Louise Cleveland Vevle. He was raised by his father and second mother, Martha Elizabeth Richardson Vevle, and was educated in Fort Dodge. He also attended Iowa State University for two years. He moved to Chicago, Ill., to work and then served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II, 1942 to 1946, in London, England, on Eisenhower's Staff. He was on the first boat to leave. After the war, he returned to Chicago, where he remained until moving back to Fort Dodge in 1989, and then into Friendship Haven in 1993. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church
in Fort Dodge.

Rudolph B. Vevle died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 87.

Survivors include a very special friend, Charlotte Olson, of Fort Dodge, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two twin brothers, Floyd and Lloyd during World War II.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 16, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel on the Hill - Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, with Reverend Allen E. Hermeier of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Memorials may be given to St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
