Funeral services for Carole Rohwedder, 96, of Greene will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. Greene with Pastor Daniel Flucke officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carole was born on October 21, 1922, in rural Marble Rock, Floyd Co., Iowa the daughter of Richard and Martha (Zitzow) Borchard and passed away on April 7, 2019 at Valley View Care Center in Greene. She was raised in rural Marble Rock. Carole attended country school through the 8th grade and later graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1939.

Carole was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene where she was Baptized on January 8, 1923 and Confirmed May 24, 1940. She was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Rohwedder on December 23, 1942, at St. Peter’s. The couple was blessed with two children: Gordon and Gloria. She and her husband farmed in the Marble Rock area for many years; Carole could be seen working alongside her husband in the fields.

Carole was a 4-H Leader for a number of years. Her daughter lovingly remembered the times spent with her mother and how much she learned from her.

After moving to town Carole was a school bus driver working for the Greene School District. She also worked various other local jobs.

Her favorite hobbies were doing the daily crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, golfing, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Gloria (Roger) Stover, Dows, IA; daughter-in-law Cheryl Rohwedder, Marble Rock, IA; her grandchildren: Randy (Kelly) Rohwedder, Menomonie, WI; Brad (Laura) Rohwedder, Charles City; Troy Stover, Manchester, IA; Wesley (Stacey) Stover, Huxley, IA.; 10 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2004; son, Gordon; her parents; 3 brothers: John, William and Charles Borchard; 3 sisters: Kathryn Miller, Helen Pooley, and Irene Kehn; one great grandson.
