Dies in HollywoodDr. William A. Black, 82, veteran retired minister, a resident of Sioux Falls for 20 years, died Monday in Hollywood, Calif. it was learned here today. He had lived at 1135 South Walts ave. No funeral arrangements have been made. Born at Prince Edward Island, Canada, April 22, 1855, the son of Rev. and Mrs. A. B. Black, he first entered the ministry in New York state. In 1879 he came to the northwest Iowa conference, where he served for 30 years. For six years Rev. Black was superintendent of the Sibley district. He transferred to the Dakota conference in 1909, holding several pastorates until retirement in 1918, when he came to Sioux Falls.
Besides his widow, who was Miss Louise Dixson [Dixon] before her marriage in October, 1882 at Sackville, Canada, the survivors are two daughters, Mrs. O. D. Dunbar, Huron and Mrs. M. M. Brumbaugh, Sioux Falls, and two brothers, Frank, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Leslie Black, Hollywood. The daughters were in Hollywood at the time of the death.
