Mrs. Chris Ulvin Dies at Rochester

Mrs. Chris Ulvin, aged 73 years, a resident of this community for more than forty years, passed away at the hospital at Rochester, Minn., on Friday, November 1, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home to the Lutheran church at Thor with interment in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Maren Ulvin was born in Eidsvold, Norway, May 27, 1862. Her parents were Cole and Christine Olson. The early years of her life were spent in Norway, where she was baptized into the Lutheran church as a child She retained membership in that church all her life.

In 1884 she came to the United States and married Chris Ulvin on July 25, 1886. Three children were born to this union, two daughters and a son who died in infancy. She was always quiet and unassuming in her ways. Above all else, she loved her God, her home and her flowers. Her Bible was always near at hand and the last moments of each day were spent in reading and in prayer. She was never more content than while caring for her home, her loved ones and her flowers.

Her unfailing courage, willing hands and ready smile will be greatly missed in her home.

After an illness of three weeks she was taken to Rochester, Minn., Oct. 14, where all that modern science and loving care could do was done for her, but to no avail. She passed away Nov. 1, 1935, at the age of 73 years, five months and five days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Clara (Mrs. Alfred Nelson), and Ella (Mrs. Edwin Nelson), of Goldfield, five grandchildren, Curtis, Milton, Eleanor, Donald and Marlon Nelson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at the home at 1.30 and at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church at Thor, conducted by Rev. Thorson. She was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery, beside her beloved husband who preceded her in death three years.

"Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep,
From which none ever wake to weep."
