Chris Ulvin

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, August 24th, Chris Ulvin died at the hospital in Iowa City, where he had been for treatment since July 20th.

Mr. Ulvin was born in Eidsvold, Norway, on Jan. 26, 1861. His parents were Christopher and Leva Daesruud. He came to America in 1884 and on July 25, 1886, was married to Maren Olson. He settled on a farm near Thor. In 1890 he located on the present homestead five miles west of Goldfield, where he has lived since. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two daughters, Clara Nelson and Ella Nelson, both of Goldfield and five grandchildren, Curtis, Milton, Eleanor, Donald and Marion Nelson, one brother and three sisters, all in Norway, surviving, besides many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ulvin was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and remained a member of that denomination to the end. He was a highly successful farmer and took an active part in community affairs and will be greatly missed in the community of which he was a part. Affectionate and considerate of the needs of others, a large place in the family circle will be left vacant.

Realizing his end was near he commended his soul to God in prayer as testimony to the wife and daughter who were at his bedside at the last. Our Saviour’s blessed words are remembered, “Come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest”.

Blessed be the memory of Mr. Ulvin.
