Ramon "Sharkey" Ulstad

Ramon 'Sharkey" Ulstad, 74, of Eagle Grove, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Graveside services were held on Monday, December 29, at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Ulstad officiating.

Ramon "Sharkey" Ulstad was born October 21, 1929 in Eagle Grove the son of Clifford and Bessie (Godfrey) Ulstad. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1947. Ramon served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1948. He then returned to Eagle Grove where he attended college. Ramon worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Eagle Grove before moving to California where he was an insurance salesman for 23 years. He returned to Iowa after retiring. He was a member of MENSA.

He is survived by his children: Dr. David Ulstad and his wife, Deb, of Mason City; Jeff Ulstad, of Iowa City; and Teresa Ulstad-Van Slyke and her husband, of Forest City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, a sister, Bette Blue, of Webster City; and a brother, Rev. Bruce Ulstad, of Rosemount, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.

Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
