Funeral services for Clifford Raymond Ulstad, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Forbes officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ulstad, a retired Chicago and North Western R.R. conductor, was at the time of his death a custodian at the Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie, three sons and one daughter, Ramon Ulstad, San Diego, Calif.; John at home; and the Rev. Bruce at Kelly, Ia. and Mrs. James Blue of Webster City.

Other survivors include, nine grandchildren and six sisters, Nettie Ellingston, Lillie Johnson, Blanch Toft, Belmond; Ella Cox, Omaha, Neb.; Lenore Spellmeyer, Woolstock; and Mae Amerson, Eagle Grove.

Clifford Raymond Ulstad was born March 2, 1904, at Holmes, Ia., the son of Samuel and Mary Johnson Ulstad.

He attended school at Holmes and Thor, and farmed for a while after his schooling.

He was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1928 and worked at this trade until 1969. At the time of his retirement, he was No. 1 conductor.

He was united in marriage to Bessie Godfrey of Eagle Grove on June 3, 1929 at Eagle Grove. The couple became the parents of four children, all of whom survive.

Clifford died in the explosion of the Coast-to-Coast and Chatter Box Cafe buildings in Eagle Grove on February 2, 1973. At the time of his death he was 68 years and 11 months of age.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ramon Ulstad, San Diego, Calif.; John Ulstad, Eagle Grove; Bruce Ulstad, Kelley; one daughter, Betty, Mrs. James Blue, Webster City; six sisters, Mrs. Nettie Ellingston, Belmond; Mrs. Blanche Toft, Belmond; Mrs. Lillie Johnson, Belmond; Mrs. Ella Cox, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Lenor Spellmeyer, Woolstock; Mrs. Mae Amerson, Eagle Grove; also surviving are nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Clifford was a member of the United Methodist Church Eagle Grove, the Masonic Lodge and UTU.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Forbes officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
