OLE K. UHR, 84, PASSED AWAY SUNDAY, OCT. 31

Fatal Illness Was of But Few Days Duration. Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon.

Ole K. Uhr died Sunday morning at the home of his son. O. G. Uhr on South Iowa. He had been ill but, a few days. He had been a resident of Wright county for 56 years and of Eagle Grove since 1899, 44 years. For many years he was a director of the Security Savings Bank, resigning when he felt that his health was beginning to fail. However he was around and active and apparently in good health until last Tuesday when his fatal illness attacked him.

Mr. Uhr was a citizen in whom everyone placed confidence who knew him. He had good judgment and was a man of the highest integrity.

Funeral Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the East Side Evangelical church with the Rev. T. J. Severtson in charge. Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Ole K. Uhr was born to the parents, Knute and Marie Bergeson at Skjelsvik, in Fister, pr Stavanger, Norway, June 28, 1859. And died at the home of his son, Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Uhr, Eagle Grove, Iowa, October 31, 1943, age 84 years, 4 months and 3 days. He received the Christian baptism, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed his Christian faith in his youth.

At the age of five years he came to America, to Cheston, Illinois. While a young man he spent some years working at Chicago, Illinois. On December 31, 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Gena Sandvig. Mr. and Mrs. Uhr moved immediately to Holmes, Ia., where he was engaged for some time in farming. Later he operated a general store business at Holmes. And in 1899 he moved to Eagle Grove and together with Mr. O. F. Gunderson and Mr. J. O. Johnson, operated a general store.

Mrs. Uhr died October 16, 1921. He is now survived by one son, O. G. Uhr, Eagle Grove and by four daughters, Mrs. Josie Johnston, of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Cora Smith, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Mrs. Lillian Codner, Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Ruby Jones, Eagle Grove. And by 16 grandchildren, and by 7 great-grandchildren. Also by two sisters, Mrs. Melinda Randa, Cylinder, Iowa and Mrs. Belinda Govig, Mason City, Iowa. And a large number of relatives and friends. He is the last of seven brothers.

Mr. Uhr was a congenial and friendly nature, a true friend, a kind husband and father. He was a man of good and sound judgment, vitality interested in his community, state and nation. He was a faithful member of his church which he loved and supported. He loved and honored his Savior. His last illness was brief.

Randa, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Finnestad and daughter, Glenice of Cylinder; Mrs. John Finnestad, Mrs. Belinda Govig, Mrs. Newton Straw, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Uhr, Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Uhr, Miss Alice Uhr, Mrs. B. W. Sorensen, Mrs. Andrew K. Uhr, Swea City, Mrs. E. O. Erickson, Mason City; Vigil Erickson, Radcliffe; Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Thompson, Dr. and Mrs. E. L. Sizemore, Mrs. Chas. Nichols, Clarion; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bell, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lenning, Thor; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Knutson, Badger; and Roger Smith, Philadelphia, Pa.

June 28, 1859 – October 31, 1943
