Josephine Uhr funeral Friday

Mrs. Josephine Uhr, 79, long time Eagle Grove resident, died Tuesday evening at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, where she was a patient for five weeks. For the past few years she has made her home in Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Forbes will officiate and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Uhr is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Yale Colle of Boone, and one brother, Ardith Cowan of Encino, Calif.

Josephine Cleo Uhr was born at Kenesaw, Adams County, Nebraska, on November 28, 1891, the daughter of Ellsworth and Harriett Eastwood Gorsuch.

She attended school In Nebraska, and also the high school in Eagle Grove. She taught school in Wright County for a number of years.

Mrs. Uhr was one of the early leaders in 4-H, and did much to establish the 4-H as it is today.

She had resided at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, for the past 6 years, and had been a patient in the Bethesda Hospital, Fort Dodge, for 5 weeks prior to her passing on July 6, 1971, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 8 days.

She is survived by her daughter Cleo, of Boone; by her brother, Ardith Cowan, Encino, Calif., and 2 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Lennie.

Mrs. Uhr was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, and the Esther Circle.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 9, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove.

Time of service was 1:30 p.m., and Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill at Eagle Grove.
