Dorthea Nelson Vika Vorland
12 March 1863 --- 26 November 1945

Dorothy Nelson was born to the parents, Nils and Martha Vika, at Bumlo, Norway, [Bømlo kommune, Hordaland fylke] March 12, 1863, and died at Eagle Grove, Iowa, November 26, 1945, age 82 years, 8 months and 14 days. She was baptized unto Christ, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed her Christian Faith.

On March 16, 1887 she was united in marriage to Gabriel Vorland. Mr. and Mrs. Vorland came to America, to Story City, Iowa, in May, 1890. They lived there until 1919 when they moved to Eagle Grove, which has since been their home. Mr. Vorland died October 20, 1934. As far as we know, Mrs. Vorland was now the last one of her family of brothers and sisters. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Vorland was a very quiet and friendly lady. She was a kind wife, their home was a pleasant and sunshiny place. She was a pious and Godfearing lady who loved her Saviour devotedly. She was a faithful member of the Samuel Lutheran church while she lived in Eagle Grove.
