Marjorie Etta Stansbury Paine
7 November 1906 ---- 1 March 1984

Mrs. Marjorie Etta Paine, the daughter of William Robert and Bertha Risser Stansbury, was born on November 7, 1906 at Farmington, Iowa. She grew up in Farmington and graduated from the Farmington High School and then received her nursing training at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines and became a Registered Nurse and worked in Des Moines for several years. On March 23, 1935, she was united in marriage with Sumner B. Paine at Des Moines. The couple lived in Eagle Grove a short time and then lived near Woolstock and later moved to a farm near Eagle Grove, where they lived until 1961, when they retired and moved into Eagle Grove. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, the EJ Chapter of P.E.O., the White Shrine of Jerusalem and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Paine died in October of 1983.

She died on Thursday afternoon, March 1, 1984 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where she had been a patient for the past several days after having knee surgery and then suffered a heart attack. She attained the age of 77 years, three months and 24 days.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Byron and Marjorie Surface of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Charles Burks of Baton Rouge, La.; Tom and Linda Burks, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Evans of Farmington, Iowa and Thelma, Mrs. L.A. Jacobson of Abilene, Kans. and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Philip Burks and two brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie E. Paine, 77, of Eagle Grove, were held on Monday, March 5,1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Sunday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
