Gerald Raymond Mullins, the son of Walter and Cora Williamson Mullins, was born on June 9, 1912 in Buena Vista County, Storm Lake, Iowa. He graduated from the Martinsdale High School. On August 12, 1951, he was united in marriage with Velma Trojahn at Hartley, Iowa. For the past 13 years, the couple had lived in the Eagle Grove - Thor area. He had been employed part time at the Jerry Rabiner Boys Ranch near Fort Dodge and had also helped on farms in the Thor area.

He died on Monday night, December 12, 1983, in the ambulance en route to a Des Moines hospital, after becoming ill at work on Monday afternoon. He attained the age of 71 years, six months and three days.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Mullins of Thor; his son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Marcia Mullins of Redfield, Iowa; three granddaughters, Tricia, Jennifer and Nicole Mullins; two brothers, Donald Mullins of Indianola, Iowa; Merwin Mullins of Maquoketa, Iowa; four half sisters: Mrs. Lela Gibson and Mrs. Shirley Hamilton, both of Des Moines; Mrs. LaVonne Harison of LeMars, Iowa, Mrs. Rose Williams of Merrill, Iowa and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Gerald R. Mullins, 71 of Thor, were held on Friday Dec. 16, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Rev Timothy P. Larson officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
