OLIVE A. HOOKER

Olive A. Gangstead was born July 24,1908, in Humboldt County of rural Goldfield to Hans and Hannah Gangstead. She graduated from Goldfield High School and the
University of Commerce in Des Moines. On August 30,1930, she was united in marriage to Donald Hooker at rural Goldfield. She worked as a secretary for Royal Typewriter Company and Owens Illinois Glass Company in Des Moines. She was a farm wife and homemaker for many years. She was a member of Lake Lutheran Church, choir member and the ELCAW where she held various offices. She moved to the Meadows in Clarion in 1993 from their farm at rural Goldfield.

Olive A. Hooker died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion, at the age of 91.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Hooker and wife, Marie, Webster City, Iowa; one daughter, Charlene Nerem and husband, Merrill, West Union, Iowa; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Mabel Berkland, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Enid Novy, Kenosha, Wis.; and two brothers, Harold Gangstead, Sioux Falls, S. D., and Reverend Owen Gangstead, Decorah, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald, in April 2000; and two sisters, Esther Harvey and Agnes Stockdale.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), June 7, 2000, at 10:30, a.m. at the Lake Lutheran Church in rural Renwick, with the Reverend Sandra Krynik officiating. Burial will be held in the Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Renwick.
