HELEN MARIAN GROSS

Helen Marian McNeal was born on December 10, 1913, the daughter of Clark Edward and Hilda Bredholm McNeal, in Wall Lake Township, Iowa. She received her education in the Wall Lake country school and the Clarion, Iowa school system.

She was united in marriage to Lyle L. Gross of Eagle Grove, Iowa on June 1, 1938 in Webster City, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm south of Eagle Grove since that time.

Helen spent her free time growing flowers and gardening at their farm home Her flowers have won her numerous awards at the Wright County Fair. She was also an avid organist, but enjoyed all types of music.

She entered the Rotary Ann Nursing Home on January 17, 1992, and died there on May 4, 1992. She had attained the age of 78 years, four months and 24 days.

Helen leaves in passing her husband, Lyle, of Eagle Grove; two sons, Douglas and George, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa; one daughter, Cynthia (Mrs. Troy) Sockler of Fort Collins, Colo., and one sister, Grace Walsh of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren: Eric, Michelle, Michael and Marci Gross, Emily and Callie Sockler; and two great-grandchildren, Holly and Amber Bair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Clark McNeal.

Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, the Rebekah Circle, as well as being in charge of scheduling the church greeters and for many years, was part of the church flower committee.

Funeral services for Helen Marian Gross were held on May 7, 1992 at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. The Reverend Scott C. Hall officiated the 1:30 p.m. services and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

The family requests all memorials be designated to the United Methodist Church Organ Fund, Eagle Grove.
