Bernice McCoy, 92, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2004 at USA Health Care in Urbandale. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home followed by a 1:30 p.m. graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Bernice was born in Eagle Grove and had lived in Des Moines since 1950. She had taught country school in rural Clarion, Iowa and later worked at Younkers. Bernice was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines where she was active in the choir and Sunday School. She was also a member and past national president of the Phi Tau Omega Sorority, for which she received a certificate of appreciation from the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Judy Valentine of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Scott Valentine, Ann Valentine, Rob Valentine, Brenda Megonigle and Dawn Druart; and numerous greatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Iowa Golden Chapter.
