Former resident is buried here

The funeral for a former Eagle Grove resident was held here Saturday afternoon, when Mrs. Ardythe Mellgren Wells was brought back for funeral and burial services.

Mrs. Wells died at her home in Des Moines Thursday, June 27 following a long illness.

The services were held in the Samuel Lutheran Church and Rev. Harris Hostager, pastor of the Lutheran in Belmond officiated.

Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wells is survived by two children, Mrs. John Weaver of Des Moines and Terry Wells of Newport, Calif.; also two brothers and seven sisters and two grandchildren.

Ardythe Lou Mellgren, daughter of John and Lena Larson Mellgren, was born September 13, 1913 at Eagle Grove. She was baptized and confirmed in the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. She
attended the public schools and graduated from the Eagle Grove High School.

On July 2, 1938 she was united in marriage to Jack Wells in the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. To this union two children were born.

In 1945 the family moved to Des Moines. For the past 16.years she had done clerical work at Younkers Department Store in Des Moines.

On July 27,1972 Ardythe died at her home in Des Moines following a lingering illness. She was 58 years, 10 months and 14 days of age.

She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Mrs. John Weaver of Des Moines; son Terry Wells of New Port Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; two brothers: Oscar Mellgren of Eagle Grove and John Mellgren of Lincoln, Nebr.; seven sisters: Miss Hazel Mellgren and Miss Josephine Mellgren, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Kastler and Mrs. Blanche Barker of Clarion; Mrs. A. C. Hanson of Belmond; Mrs. Joe Askvig of Omaha, Nebr. and Mrs. Berniece McCoy of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Harris Hostager, pastor of the Belmond Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was held on the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

MRS. ARDYTHE WELLS

Services for Mrs. Ardythe L. Wells, 59, of 3214 Leado Ave., who died at home Thursday of emphysema and a heart ailment, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Samuel Lutheran Church at Eagle Grove, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery there.

Mrs. Wells was born at Eagle Grove and lived in Des Moines 27 years. She recently retired after 14 years as a clerical worker at Younkers. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Cindy Weaver of Des Moines; a son, Terry of Newport Beach, Calif.; two brothers, John Mellgren of Lincoln, Neb., and Oscar Mellgren of Eagle Grove; seven sisters, Hazel and Josephine Mellgren, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Kastler and Mrs. Blanche Barker both of Clarion, Mrs. Albert Hanson of Belmond, Mrs. Joseph Askvig of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Berniece McCoy of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Beaverdale Funeral Chapel.
