Winona State Instructor Marley, dies

Dr. Warren E. Marley, 58, Glen Haven, Winona Rt 2, died Monday at Community Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks. He was a professor in the Business Education and Business Administration departments of Winona State University, and had been a member of the WSU faculty 26 years. The son of Herbert and Etta McBride Marley, be was born at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Aug. 3, 1920. He was a graduate of Eagle Grove High School, Eagle Grove Junior College and received his bachelor's and master's degrees and doctorate at the University of Iowa. He was a World War II Army veteran. He married Dorothy Steiner at Marion, Wis., Aug. 14, 1949. He was a member and past deacon and clerk of First Congregational Church; vice president of the Winona YWCA; member of Bower Lodge 464, AM & FM Eagle Grove, and Rochester (Minn.) Scottish Rite Bodies; past member of Winona Kiwanis Club; member of the National and Minnesota Business Education associations; member of the National Education Association; the American Association of University Professors; vice president of Minnesota Teachers Retirement Association, and a member of Delta Phi Epsilon.

Survivors are: his wife; a son, James, Winona; a daughter, Diane, at home, and a sister, Mrs. Don (Wilma) Brisbin, Eagle Grove. A sister has died. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, the Rev. John Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Friends may call Wednesday after 7 pm. at Fawcett Funeral Home, where a Masonic service by the members of the Winona Lodge, will be at 7:30 p.m., then at the church Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services. Pallbearers will be Stephen K. Smith, Thomas M. Lee, Richard Hopkins, Stanley A. Hammer. Joseph Foegen and Dwight Marston. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Hanson, George Elliott, Daniel Hoyt A. G. Lackore, J. Hugh Capron and Rudy Lokensgard.
