Funeral of E. W. Archer

The remains of E. W. Archer arrived here Saturday noon and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. W. Bollinger assisted by Rev. C. B. Winter. The interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Archer's son was buried here about fourteen years ago. Mr. Archer lived here for a number of years in the nineties and was prominent in business and church circles. He was an ordained minister of the Methodist church but left that work about sixteen years ago. He had been with the Standard Oil company so long he was retired on a pension about one year ago. His wife and her brother Mr. Smith of Cincinnati accompanied the remains here for the funeral and interment. They returned to Cincinnati Monday night.

The remains of E. W. Archer were shipped to Eagle Grove last Saturday for burial. Mr. Archer died in Cincinnati, Obio his home in days gone by, and interment was made in the family lot here by the side of an only son who died while the family lived here twelve years ago. Mr. Archer was the local manager of the Standard Oil Company at this place for a number of years, and was afterwar transferred to Fort Dodge, from which place they went to California early last fall for the benefit of Mrs. Archer's health. They did not like California and after spending some little time in the south, went back to Cincinnati which was formerly their home before coming to Eagle Grove. Mrs. Archer accompanied the remains to this place. Mr. Archer was formerly a minister and upon various occasions occupied the Methodist pulpit here. He was an old soldier, a man of considerable ability and made a wide circle of friends.
