20 September 1834 ---- 24 November 1905

Death of Mrs. Amelia Brown
Mrs. Amelia Brown passed away in her home in North Commercial Ave., Friday afternoon, November 24, 1905, at about three o'clock, after an illness extending several weeks. Her demise was due to old age. Mrs. Brown was an active worker among the membership of the W. R. C. and was the first president of the local organization. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church, Rev. Lander officiating. There will be short services at the residence at 2 o'clock. All members of the G. A. R. and W. R. C. will meet at the residence at 2.

"......She was born in New York about the year 1834. She married her first husband in that state Mr. McCoy, who was a soldier in the civil war and who died about 25 years ago. She has lived in Eagle Grove for twenty years, and seventeen years ago was married to Mr. Joseph Brown, another civil war veteran, who survives her death. She leaves one daughter and two grandchildren. T. O. McCoy of Swea City, the grandson, was present at the funeral which was held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon....."
